Curriculum Vitae Summary
I am pursuing a postgraduate degree in Soil Science at Makerere University. I have a Bachelor’s of Science Technology Degree with a bias in Biology from Kyambogo University. I also hold a certificate in computer applications. I have a certificate in rice production and postharvest handling techniques. Trained in GIS use and application in integrated watershed management held 2010. Also trained in Carbon footprint assessment for sustainable watershed management under changing environments in 2011; coordinated by Makerere University in conjunction with University of Siegen and Kenyatta University.
I am working as Research Assistant Soil Scientist Rwebitaba ZARDI in Kabarole district since 2012 to date. I have gained good experience in both field and laboratory works. My attachment to Below Ground Biodiversity project in 2007 at Makerere University former Faculty of Agriculture as a research assistant for over two years, enabled me gain more skills and experience in soil sample collection, microbial analysis and data analysis. Besides, in former Soil Science Department laboratories at Makerere University I was holding microbiology practical sessions for both undergraduate and postgraduate students until 2010. From 2010 I have been training farmers on improving soil fertility management using Soil Test Kit in several districts of Uganda collaborating with sustainable land management office at ministry of Agriculture.
Consultancies: I was on the team that undertook the entomological, animal parasitological, socio-economic and environment baseline survey in 2009/2010 in Uganda as a soil scientist. Also undertook farm planning, land surveying and mapping for sugarcane production in Kayunga and Kasawo for Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited (SCOUL) - Lugazi in 2011.
My technical competences: Good at ms word, ms excel, ms access, ms power point presentations and ms internet explorer, minute recording and report writing, proposal writing skills, knowledge in application and maintenance of laboratory equipment that is incubators, ovens, laminar flow, autoclaves and many others, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and general laboratory techniques, microbiological techniques in isolation, purification and quantification methods for different microorganisms, media preparation and handling, laboratory design and laboratory instrumentation, sample collection from field and data analysis in the laboratory and data entry and data analysis by the statistical computer programs(Gen stat, Xlstat).
